The Marion County Coroner attempts to determine the cause of death by the least intrusive means possible under the circumstances surrounding the death. This may be accomplished with the use of medical records, autopsies and laboratory testing. The cause of death may take 12-18 weeks to determine.
The office of the Coroner assures you that your loved one will be treated with respect and dignity. The nature of the Coroner’s inquiry is to search for the truth. Impartial death investigation helps support and protect the public.
