Meet the Commissioners

Kerr Murray 1/2/2017 - Current Term Expires 1/1/2025

Kerr and his wife Sharon are the proud parents of 2 daughters and 1 son.  They also have 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Herr and Sharon are active members of Marion Salem United Methodist Church.  Kerr graduated from Marion Harding High School and attended the Ohio State University.  Kerr is an Honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army during the Viet Nam era.  Kerr retired as Purchasing Manager form GTE after 31 years of service.  He was then the Regional Sales Manager for Alcatel, selling fiber optic cable in a 17 state area, and retired 12 years later.  Kerr also served two 4 year terms as President of the Local Marion County Republican Club.

Andy Appelfeller 1/3/2001-Current term expires 1/2/2025

Andy is a lifelong resident of central Ohio and married to wife Sherril.  They are the parents of 3 children and the proud grandparents of five lovely granddaughters and one grandson.   Andy is a graduate of Kenton Senior High School class of 1966 and was a Veteran of the Ohio National Guard (1967 – 1972).  He graduated from the Highway Patrol Academy class of 1970.  He was 3 time “Trooper of the Year” (Marion Post twice and Bellefontaine Post once).  Andy retired from Ohio State Highway Patrol after 26 years of service and went on to be a bailiff in the court of Judge Alspach before running for Commissioner.   Andy and his family are members of Green Camp United Methodist Church.  Andy sits on the following boards:

Mark Davis

Commissioner
Current Term Expires 12/31/2026

Mark is a resident of Big Island Township.  He is the parent of two adult children who are in college.  Mark is a member of Marion First Church of the Nazarene.  He is a physician and was the former Marion County Coroner.  He had a private practice in Marion until April 2020.  Mark is a graduate of the University of Dayton and Wright State University School of Medicine.  He serves as a Central Committee member of the Marion County Republican Party.  Two of his heroes are President Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.  You may contact Commissioner Davis at mdavis@co.marion.oh.us.
